Quick answer
The BFCM 2026 bundle plan for a Shopify store fits in four steps. Build quantity breaks and one fixed bundle on your ten best-selling products by 6 November. Run an A/B test on discount depth for two weeks, until each variant has about 100 conversions. Lock the winners by 20 November. Then check your bundle app's revenue cap and upgrade before Black Friday, 27 November 2026, because most bundle apps pause offers when a plan limit is hit, and the weekend is when you hit it.
Key takeaways
- Black Friday is 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday is 30 November. Shopify merchants sold $14.6 billion over the 2025 weekend, up 27% on 2024, with an average cart of $114.70.
- Quantity breaks are the safest BFCM offer: a 3-pack at 15% off on a 60%-margin product returns about 2.25 times the margin of a single-unit order.
- Start A/B tests by 6 November. Two weeks and roughly 100 conversions per variant is the minimum to trust a result, and nothing should change during the weekend itself.
- Revenue-capped plans are the hidden BFCM risk. Releasit Bundles & Upsells honours the order that crosses the cap and then pauses offers; other apps' reviews describe offers disappearing at the limit. Upgrade before 20 November.
- Stack rules matter: decide in Shopify's discount combination settings whether bundle discounts combine with your sitewide BFCM code, or the two will add up.
When is BFCM 2026, and what did 2025 look like?
Black Friday 2026 falls on 27 November and Cyber Monday on 30 November, with Thanksgiving on 26 November. Shopify's own figures for the 2025 weekend are the best picture of what a store is preparing for.
| Date or figure | Value |
|---|---|
| Singles' Day | Wednesday 11 November 2026 |
| Thanksgiving | Thursday 26 November 2026 |
| Black Friday | Friday 27 November 2026 |
| Small Business Saturday | Saturday 28 November 2026 |
| Cyber Monday | Monday 30 November 2026 |
| Giving Tuesday | Tuesday 1 December 2026 |
| Green Monday | Monday 14 December 2026 |
| Shopify BFCM 2025 sales | $14.6 billion, up 27% on 2024 |
| Peak sales per minute | $5.1 million, at 12:01 pm EST on Black Friday |
| Average cart | $114.70 |
| Shoppers | 81 million or more |
| Merchants with their best day ever | More than 94,900 |
| Top categories | Cosmetics, clothing tops and pants, activewear, fitness and nutrition |
Source: Shopify's BFCM 2025 results, published 2 December 2025 and checked 12 October 2026. Shopify describes the data as approximate and unaudited.
Two of those figures shape the plan. The peak came at 12:01 pm EST on the Friday, a minute after most US-timed promotions went live, so offers have to be built and tested before then, not during. And the top categories, cosmetics, clothing basics, activewear and nutrition, are exactly the products that sell in multiples, which is what quantity breaks are for.
Why bundles beat a sitewide discount at BFCM
A sitewide 20% code gives the discount to every order, including the single-item orders that would have happened anyway. A bundle or quantity break gives the discount only when the shopper adds more, so the average order value rises while the margin per order rises with it.
Worked example. Take a $30 product that costs $12 to make, a 60% gross margin. A single-unit order returns $18 of margin. A 3-pack at 15% off sells for $76.50, costs $36 to supply and returns $40.50 of margin. That is 2.25 times the margin of the single order, and the shopper paid $13.50 less than three separate purchases, which is the part they remember. The same product under a sitewide 15% code returns $13.50 of margin on a single unit.
The arithmetic only works if the offer is on products people buy in multiples. On a $400 one-off item it falls apart, which is why the first step is choosing the products, not the discount.
Which bundle offer fits which product?
Four offer types cover almost every BFCM case; each suits a different kind of product, and the starting discounts below are points to test from, not rules.
| Product type | Offer | Starting point to test | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consumables and repeat buys: skincare, supplements, socks, coffee | Quantity breaks | Buy 2 save 10%, buy 3 save 15%, buy 4 save 20% | Shoppers already plan to re-buy; the tier moves them from one to three in a single order |
| Complementary pairs: serum and cream, razor and blades, device and case | Fixed product bundle | 10% to 15% off the pair | Attaches a lower-margin accessory to the hero product at full attention |
| Variety ranges: flavours, scents, colours | Mix and match | Pick any 3 for 15% off | Gift buyers want choice; a fixed pack sells less than "pick three" |
| Low-cost add-ons: refills, accessories, gift wrap | Upsell on the product page | 5% to 10% off the add-on, or no discount | Lifts order value a few dollars at a time without touching the hero product's price |
| Overstock and end-of-line | BOGO or a deep top tier | Buy 2 get 1 free, or buy 3 save 30% | Clears stock in multiples before January, when it would be discounted anyway |
Keep the hero product's single-unit price unchanged. The discount lives in the tiers, so the product page still shows full price to anyone comparing you with a competitor, and the saving appears only when the shopper adds the second or third unit. For the tier-by-tier setup and the margin maths behind these discounts, see our guide to quantity breaks on Shopify.
The BFCM bundle timeline, week by week
Working back from 27 November, this is the schedule that leaves room for a two-week test and a quiet final week.
| Dates | What to do | Done when |
|---|---|---|
| 12 to 23 October | Pick the ten products that sell in multiples. Match each to an offer type from the table above. Check gross margin per product so the deepest tier still clears your floor. Check your bundle app's plan cap against last year's BFCM revenue. | A one-page list: product, offer type, tiers, margin at the top tier |
| 26 October to 6 November | Build the offers. Preview them on your live theme and on mobile. Launch A/B tests on your three highest-traffic products: current tiers against one deeper tier. | Every offer live, three tests running, test orders placed and refunded |
| 9 to 20 November | Read the tests once each variant has about 100 conversions. Keep the winners, switch off the losers. Upgrade your bundle app plan if BFCM could push you past the cap. Set discount combination rules in Shopify. | Winners locked, plan upgraded, stacking rules set |
| 23 to 26 November | Freeze. Change nothing except stock levels. Re-check every offer on the theme after any BFCM theme or banner update, since a theme change can hide a widget. Brief support on the offers. | A screenshot of every live offer on desktop and mobile, dated 26 November |
| 27 to 30 November | Monitor revenue and inventory twice a day. If a bundled variant sells out, the offer should drop that variant automatically; confirm it does. Do not change discounts mid-weekend. | No offer edits, no cap hit, no out-of-stock tier shown |
| 1 to 14 December | Keep the winning offers running for Cyber Week stragglers and Green Monday on 14 December. Compare bundle revenue and AOV with the same weekend in 2025. Note what to test in January. | A one-line result per offer: revenue, orders, AOV lift |
How to A/B test discount depth before BFCM
The question an A/B test answers before BFCM is not "do bundles work" but "how deep does the discount need to be". A 3-pack at 15% off that converts as well as one at 20% off is five points of margin on every multi-unit order of the weekend.
In Releasit Bundles & Upsells the test runs from the A/B Tests screen: pick one trigger product, set the existing offer as variant A and the challenger as variant B, choose a traffic split (50/50 by default, or 80/20 to keep most shoppers on the proven offer), and set an end date. The app reports conversion rate, revenue and orders per variant, and the help-centre guide to A/B tests walks through each step. Three rules make the result worth acting on:
- Change one thing. Same product, same layout, same tiers; only the discount depth differs. A test that changes the design and the discount at once cannot tell you which one moved the number.
- Run it for two weeks and about 100 conversions per variant. Fewer than that and a result is as likely to be chance as a finding. Start by 6 November so the two weeks end before the 20 November lock.
- Judge on revenue per visitor, not conversion rate alone. A deeper discount usually converts better; the question is whether the extra orders outweigh the margin given away. Revenue per variant, divided by the traffic each variant received, is the number to compare.
Run the tests on your three highest-traffic products, since they are the only ones likely to reach 100 conversions in two weeks in October. Apply what you learn to the long tail without testing it.
Will your bundle app stop working on Black Friday?
Most Shopify bundle apps price by the extra revenue their offers generate each month, and most pause the offers when a store passes its plan's cap. A store that normally sits under the cap can cross it in the first hour of Black Friday. What each app does at that moment is documented unevenly.
| App | Behaviour at the cap | Uncapped plan |
|---|---|---|
| Releasit Bundles & Upsells | The order that crosses the limit still gets its discount; offers then pause until you pick a higher plan. Nothing is charged automatically. | Unlimited, $19.99 a month |
| Kaching Bundles App & Upsells | Low-rated App Store reviews from August 2024 describe offers disappearing from the page when the tier limit was reached. The listing does not state the behaviour. | None listed; $299 a month at $50,000 or more on its website |
| Pumper Bundles Quantity Breaks | A September 2026 one-star review describes an offer being deactivated at the plan limit. The listing does not state the behaviour. | Unlimited, $49.99 a month |
| Easy Bundles: Bundle Builder | Its pricing page says usage charges apply beyond your plan, capped at $399 a month. Whether offers keep running is not stated. | Custom Enterprise pricing above $10,000 a month |
Each app's full pricing is compared in our posts on Kaching, Pumper and Easy Bundles, and all seven bundle apps side by side in our best Shopify bundle apps roundup.
How to size the risk in five minutes. Take your sales for 27 to 30 November 2025 and multiply by the share of orders that included a bundle, or by 25% if you did not run bundles last year. If that number is anywhere near your plan's monthly cap, upgrade on 20 November, not on the day. On Releasit Bundles & Upsells the Unlimited plan is $19.99 a month with no cap, so the question costs at most a few dollars to settle; on other apps, check the cap behaviour with their support in writing before the weekend.
The setup checklist
Ten steps, in order, from the product list to the post-weekend review.
- List ten products that sell in multiples, with gross margin per unit, and assign each an offer type from the table above.
- Set tiers so the deepest one clears your margin floor. Write the margin at the top tier next to each product; if it is below your floor, shallow the tier rather than drop the product.
- Build the offers in your bundle app, keeping single-unit prices untouched.
- Preview on your live theme, desktop and mobile, before publishing. The product page is where the offer earns its keep, and mobile is where most BFCM traffic lands.
- Place a test order on each offer to confirm the discount applies at checkout, then refund it.
- Launch A/B tests on your three busiest products by 6 November, varying only the discount depth.
- Set discount combination rules in Shopify's Discounts settings so a sitewide BFCM code does not stack on top of a bundle discount unless you intend it to.
- Lock winners and upgrade your plan by 20 November.
- Freeze from 23 November: screenshot every live offer, brief support, and re-check offers after any theme or banner change.
- Review on 1 December: bundle revenue, orders with a bundle, AOV against the 2025 weekend, and the January test list.
Five BFCM bundle mistakes to avoid
- Stacking a bundle discount on a sitewide code. A 15% tier plus a 20% code is a 32% discount nobody planned. Decide combination rules in Shopify before the weekend.
- Launching untested offers on the day. The 2025 peak hit at 12:01 pm EST on Friday. There is no time to find out the widget is hidden behind a BFCM banner.
- Discounting the hero product's single price. It gives away margin on the orders you would have had anyway and makes the tier look smaller.
- Letting a sold-out variant stay in a bundle. Check that your app drops out-of-stock variants automatically; a bundle that cannot be fulfilled is a cancelled order and a refund.
- Forgetting the plan cap. The weekend's whole point is to blow through normal revenue, which is exactly what trips a capped plan.

When is Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2026?
Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November. Thanksgiving is Thursday 26 November, Small Business Saturday is 28 November and Giving Tuesday is 1 December. Singles' Day, which opens the season for many stores, is Wednesday 11 November.
When should I set up BFCM bundle offers on Shopify?
Build and publish bundle offers by 6 November 2026, three weeks before Black Friday. That leaves two weeks to A/B test discount depth, a few days to lock the winners and upgrade your bundle app plan by 20 November, and a quiet final week in which nothing changes except stock.
What discount should a BFCM bundle offer?
Start from buy 2 save 10%, buy 3 save 15% and buy 4 save 20% for quantity breaks, 10% to 15% off a fixed pair, and 15% off a pick-any-3 mix and match, then test one deeper tier. Set every tier so the margin at the deepest level still clears your floor, and keep the single-unit price unchanged.
Are quantity breaks or product bundles better for Black Friday?
Quantity breaks for products people buy in multiples, such as skincare, supplements and basics; fixed bundles for complementary pairs like a device and its accessory. Quantity breaks carry less risk because the shopper chooses how many to add, and a 3-pack at 15% off returns about 2.25 times the margin of a single-unit sale on a 60%-margin product.
Should I A/B test bundle offers during BFCM?
No. Test in late October and early November, when two weeks and about 100 conversions per variant give a readable result, and lock the winner by 20 November. Changing offers during the weekend splits traffic when every visitor counts and leaves no time to act on what you learn.
Will my bundle app stop working when I pass my plan's revenue limit?
On most revenue-capped plans, offers pause at the limit. Releasit Bundles & Upsells honours the order that crosses the cap, then pauses offers until you choose a higher plan, with nothing charged automatically. Reviews of other apps describe offers disappearing at the limit. Upgrade before 20 November if BFCM could push you past the cap.
How do I stop a bundle discount stacking with my BFCM discount code?
In Shopify Admin, each discount has combination settings that say whether it can combine with product, order and shipping discounts. Set your sitewide BFCM code so it does not combine with product discounts, unless you want the tier and the code to add up. Place a test order with the code applied to confirm the total.
Do bundle discounts work at Shopify checkout and with Shop Pay?
Yes, when the app applies the discount through Shopify Functions, as Releasit Bundles & Upsells does. The discount is calculated by Shopify at checkout, so it appears on the order, in Shop Pay and in accelerated checkouts, without duplicate variants or draft orders.
What should I do with bundle offers after Cyber Monday?
Keep the winning offers running through Cyber Week and Green Monday on 14 December, since gift buying continues until shipping cutoffs. On 1 December, compare bundle revenue, orders with a bundle and AOV against the 2025 weekend, and write down which discount depth won on each product for the January tests.

Quantity Breaks on Shopify: How to Set Up Volume Discounts in 2026
Quantity breaks are tiered prices that fall as a shopper adds more units of one product. This guide covers the margin maths on a $30 product, the two ways to set them up on Shopify (an app such as Releasit Bundles & Upsells, or Shopify's built-in automatic discounts), which tiers to start from by product type, how to stop codes stacking, and how to A/B test the discount depth.
